If You Love Your Child Deeply, but Daily Life Is Full of Meltdowns and Screaming Matches, You’re Not Alone.

You’ve tried everything. Therapy, membership groups, and countless pieces of advice and yet the days still feel long, chaotic, and draining.

You want to understand your child better. You want your home to feel peaceful again. But despite your best efforts, you find yourself stuck in patterns that leave everyone exhausted and disconnected.

It’s not because you are doing anything wrong.
It’s because most families of neurodivergent children are not given tools that fit their unique dynamics.

You don’t need to “fix” you or your child! You need a customized roadmap that meets your family where you are and helps you move toward lasting connection, joy, and confidence.

That’s exactly what we’ll create together: A collaborative path forward designed FOR your family’s unique needs - not in spite of them.

Real Change Begins with Understanding and the Right Guidance

Hi! I’m Dr. Mary Beth Schmitt. For the first 15 years of my career, I served children with language, learning, and behavior needs and their families, including running a preschool program for children ages 3 – 5 years old. Those preschoolers and now young adults! They are graduating from college, going to graduate school, living independently, and advocating for themselves!

In 2013, I earned my PhD focused on child development research. I have spent the last 9 years securing over 5 million dollars in funding from NIH, Department of Education, and foundations to help my team identify what works best for children’s learning. Those results are documented in over 55 peer reviewed publications, book chapters, and editorials advocating for children and families.

In 2015, I became a licensed foster care-adoptive parent and was trained in trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and nervous system regulation. A few years later, COVID hit, our local school system started falling apart, and all of a sudden, I found myself homeschooling while working full time as a single parent.

Even as a child development expert, I struggled. I love my kids and knew about development, but I still needed support in identifying root causes of some of our challenges and how best to implement systems that bring joy. I sought every expert I could find in books, podcasts, child therapists, colleagues. And slowly, with the cumulation of research, experiences, and trial-and-error, I figured out what works not just for my family, but the foundational components all families need to thrive; especially those who society says don’t measure up. And as a result, my family is THRIVING. This can be true for your family, too.

Here’s The Problem (Spoiler: It’s not you & it’s not your child)

Over the years, I’ve seen my family’s story repeat itself. Parents go from therapist to therapist, trying to piece together supports that don’t always consider their child as a whole. Families end up exhausted, second-guessing themselves, and feeling like they’ve failed.

You haven’t failed. And it’s NOT too late.

You just haven’t had the right partnership, grounded in science of what works for neurodivergent children. A partnership that helps you decode your child’s behavior, shift family patterns, and rebuild daily life around connection, joy, and peace.

I have done the heavy lifting for you! The research is clear on what works (and what doesn’t work) for children with language, learning, and behavioral needs. The challenge is that parents don’t typically get that knowledge! That all changes now.

Imagine a Home That Feels Peaceful, Connected, and Full of Joy Again

Your days are gloriously ordinary, no longer driven by meltdowns and tension.

You have released the fear and pressure that keeps you in panic-mode. Instead, your days carry a sense of connected joy for your family.

When challenges inevitably arise, you handle them calmly and confidently using skills from science on what works best for neurodivergent kids.

Your family has fun together!

Your child is thriving! What a gift to have a front-row seat to this incredible human’s development.

An 8-week Journey Designed Just For Your Family.

Through this group consultation experience, we’ll work together to understand your child’s needs, strengthen family dynamics, and create sustainable systems that bring connection and joy into your daily life.

Why This Works

Real change doesn’t come from quick fixes. It comes from releasing external pressures for what society says your child should be and learning what works for YOUR family. It comes from understanding what science says about how children learn and incorporating those strategies into daily life.

Most families have tried their best to figure life out. Some strategies have helped, others not so much. What’s missing isn’t effort. What’s missing is an approach that truly fits your family. Change is not easy, but neither is staying stuck in frustration and chaos.

My consulting process is grounded in science, built on decades of real-world experience, and rooted in compassion.

The (Re) Learning Curve Framework:

The Cost of Staying Stuck:

Every day you wait, the stress compounds:

  • Conflict becomes routine

  • Your child’s confidence erodes

  • Your own energy and patience wear thin

  • Connection, joy, and well-being feel out of reach

Your family deserves to thrive, not just survive.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kinds of families do you work with?

I work with families of neurodivergent children including those with ADHD, language disorders, learning differences, emotional regulation challenges, and attachment needs. I also work with families whose children don’t have any formal diagnoses, but for whom conventional parenting advice just isn’t working. Ideal ages for children are 2 years - 10 years old.

2. Will you work with my child?

No, this is not a therapy program. This 12-month consulting experience is a partnership between you as the caregiver and me. You bring the expertise of your child and family. I bring evidence-based tools, knowledge, and skills. Together, we bring transformation for you and your family.

3. What if our family is non-traditional?

There is no one right way to be a family! I work with all types of families and all types of caregivers!

4. Do you bill insurance?

No, this is not therapeutic. This consultation experience is educational in nature and should not be regarded as medical or therapeutic advice nor replace medical or therapeutic services in which you or your child are currently enrolled.

5. Do you work in person or virtually?

I work with families virtually, making this experience accessible and flexible.

6. What is your parenting philosophy?

This program does not adhere to any one style of parenting. By staying rooted in science and trauma-informed care, we rise above the polarization often found in parenting circles and work with you to determine what works best for your family.

7. When will we start seeing changes?

Every family’s experience will be unique. For those ready to implement new knowledge right away, they will start to notice changes almost immediately. However, new systems take time. The 12-month experience allows you and your family time to grow and adapt together.
